Sensory Score & Experience

This Geisha coffee stood out among the beans sampled this year. From a price-to-flavor perspective, it is exceptional. The flavor profile showcases classic washed Geisha notes like jasmine, bergamot, orange, peach, and apricot, with unique undertones of elderflower and chamomile. The weightier body, lactic acidity, and creamy mouthfeel reveal the high-quality processing and exceptional green bean quality.

However, given its more affordable price compared to top-tier Geishas that exceed $100 per kg, its longevity during the degassing and flavor retention over time should be monitored. If it maintains its unique tones for an extended period, it could easily become a personal favorite of the year.

Roast profile

Roasting Profile - Colombia La Esperanza Buenos Aires Geisha Washed
  • Roasting Machine: Easyster 4
  • Batch Size: 1,002 g (2.21 lbs)
  • Output Weight: 867 g (1.91 lbs)

This roast profile was designed considering the origin (Colombia), the washed processing method, and a light target drop temperature. The gas pressure was set to a medium-high level to balance the roast’s development and preserve the delicate floral and fruity notes typical of high-quality Geisha coffees.

In summary, this Geisha delivers classic and unique flavors, showcasing a high level of processing quality. It will be interesting to see how well the flavors hold up over time, which will determine if this becomes a top pick of the year.
