Boosting Roastery Efficiency: New Features for 2025

Firescope is continuously developing solutions to help roasteries produce higher-quality coffee with greater efficiency.

For roasteries using simple roasting profiler apps like Artisan, we believe that Firescope will make their work significantly easier. With Firescope, every team member involved in coffee production can effortlessly share information, enabling faster decision-making and driving business growth.

Today, let’s explore the exciting new features Firescope will soon release and how they can contribute to your roastery’s success.

1. Fully Traceable Inventory Management

Firescope already offers an inventory management system where coffee stock is automatically adjusted after roasting. Now, we’re taking it a step further by introducing fully traceable inventory management, allowing you to track every detail from the green coffee beans to the end product.

The core idea behind this enhanced inventory management system is to provide full visibility into which batch of green beans was used to produce each roasted coffee. By tracking the roast number on your product, you’ll know how it was roasted, when it was packaged, and where it came from.

This feature is especially useful for roasteries in countries with strict food safety regulations (e.g., New Zealand), where precise coffee management is crucial.

Recognizing that your roastey likely includes not only roasters but also logistics managers and quality control (QC) specialists, we’ve designed this feature with a modern, mobile-friendly interface. Your team can easily view and exchange insights on the go.

While we hope you never need it, if a customer complaint arises over quality or another issue, you’ll have instant access to all relevant data in Firescope to address the situation promptly.

We aim to release this feature in Q1 of next year.

2. Sensory Evaluation Integration with Roasting Records

In May of 2024, Firescope launched “Cupnote,” a sensory evaluation app for coffee. Soon, sensory evaluation data will be directly integrated into your roasting records.

Cupnote is a simple yet powerful app for coffee sensory evaluation. It includes forms such as the SCA and CoE cupping forms, and it allows you to create custom forms tailored to your roastery. The app is currently available for free download.

With the upcoming updates, you’ll be able to select your roasts directly from Cupnote and create a sensory session on the spot. Your evaluation data will then be integrated and viewable alongside your roasting records.

This integration will make it easier to make quicker decisions about whether a batch is ready for shipment.

We plan to launch this feature in Q2 of next year.

Looking ahead, Firescope will also introduce features for generating statistics based on sensory evaluations. You’ll be able to track how coffee flavor evolves based on roasting quality, storage conditions, and other factors, helping you systematically manage coffee quality.

3. Web Application

By Q1 of next year, Firescope will launch a web application that allows all records to be viewed and shared in real time.

We believe that not just roasters, but also head roasters, baristas, and QC managers should have access to roasting data to monitor coffee production and provide feedback. However, this process can be often challenging. Roasteries rely on third-party tools like Google Workspace to share screenshots and collect team feedback, which is cumbersome and inefficient.

While Firescope has always been web-based, it was previously only accessible via desktop. Although team members could access records by installing the app, the desktop restriction was a notable limitation.

The new web application removes this barrier, allowing roastery team members to easily view roasting records and production processes from any device - whether it’s a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Moreover, once sensory evaluation and inventory management features are integrated, your roastery will benefit from a seamless data flow, making operations more efficient.

We believe that when team members can easily access coffee data without repetitive processes, they gain insights that enhance both operations and coffee quality. Firescope is building an all-in-one solution, not just for roasters, but for the entire roastery team.

If you believe these features will benefit your roastery, sign up for Firescope today. We’ll send you email updates whenever these powerful features are released.
